KARACHI, Oct 14: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Karachi on Friday expressed its deep concern over the charging of high rates of medicines by some medical stores.
“They are also selling expired medicines, which is very bad in this situation. The government should take serious action in this regard,” urged the General Secretary of PMA Karachi, Dr Qaiser Sajjad, in a statement.
He urged the donors and general public willing to donate medicines for earthquake-hit areas to contact the PMA House Karachi where they can get medicines on concessional rates through pharmaceutical companies.
Meanwhile, the PMA Karachi has also been organizing free training courses from Oct 13 at the PMA House from 11am to 1pm daily for doctors, medical students, paramedical staff and the general public, who are willing to go to the affected areas of earthquake.
The PMA Emergency Care Crash Course consists of primary trauma care, basic life support and primary hospital handling on manikin (artificial body), he said.—PPI
