BAHAWALPUR, Oct 13: The NBP’s theft case involving Rs18.6 million has been transferred to the NAB for further investigation. This was revealed by DPO Arif Nawaz while talking to Dawn here the other day.
The DPO said that currency notes of Rs18.6 million were stolen from the strongroom of NBP’s Khairpur Tamewali branch in August last. He said the police had arrested two constables and a key-maker and recovered a sum of Rs4.5 million from their possession.
He claimed that constables Zafar and Yasin had stolen the money with the help of duplicate keys. He said the involvement of some bank officials could not be ruled out.
The DPO said that it was the duty of the NAB to complete the investigation and take action against the accused involved in the theft case.
