SUKKUR, Oct 13: The secretary-general of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Sindh, Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, and others commenting over recent address of the president to the nation, in which he expressed his anxiety over delay in providing relief to earthquake victims, have termed it insufficient and failure of the government.
According to the statement issued here on Thursday, they said many precious lives could have been saved with speedy relief operation.
They demanded that government should resign immediately, owing to its failure.
They said they were astonished that the government with entire resources at its disposal was not able to reach to the rescue of victims but the media men managed to reach there.
They said the recent earthquake had posed a big question mark to the ability of the government.
KILLED: A man was killed and three others, including a woman, injured, when armed persons opened fire on the Lali Khan Jakhrani village, in the jurisdiction of Bhitai colony police station, near Kandhkot on Tuesday night.
Reports said that a group of armed men entered into the village and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, Abdul Ghafoor was killed on the spot, and Badal Khatoon, Abdul Ghaffar and Juma Khan were injured. The attackers managed to flee and the injured were shifted to the local hospital.
