KARACHI, Oct 13: Cargo handling activity at the wharves on Thursday was maintained on the higher side as the total tonnage handled soared to 0.152m tons including 50,000 tons of liquid one.

According to KPT sources bulk of the total 0.114m tons went to the credit of import

tonnage, which also included 3,899 tons of sugar and 8,619 tons of fertilizers and 30,208 tons of general commodities and 37,960 tons of export tonnage including 12,200 tons of molasses.

Five ships, Johar, to offload crude oil, Eastern Sea, Kuo Hung, Hyundai Stride and Y.M. Moon to unload and load containers were berthed after the departure of four.

The ships, which departed included Iran Sattari, Thor Captain, APL Pusan and Hyundai Stride, while Eastern Sea, Y.M. Moon, Kuo Hung, Med Lerici, Siftnos Sky, Majori, Golden Express, Joahar, Alam Selaras and Tong Hai are expected to sail out on Friday.

The following ships are due on Friday: T.M.M. Hidalgo, Corin Thaikos, Sagamore, Golden Oceania, with containers, Rifki Bey, with 19,442 tons of DAP fertilizer, Maersk Taiki, with 1,808 vehicles and Clfo, with steel cargo.
