LAHORE, Oct 12; District nazim Mian Amer on Wednesday sent another 30 truckloads of foodstuff and other relief goods for quake victims in Mansehra, Bagh and Balakot.

Speaking on the occasion, the nazim said the City District Government had dispatched 2,000 tents and 35,000 packets of foodstuff worth Rs57 million for quake victims till Tuesday.

Earlier, talking to traders during his shop-to-shop fund-raising campaign at the Azam Cloth Market, he urged the people to give their donations for the quake victims after ensuring that the same would reach them. He said the relief goods would continue to be dispatched to these areas as long as the affected population was not rehabilitated. He raised Rs5.063 million from the market within half an hour.

Adviser to Chief Minister Haji Mohammad Hanif presented a cheque for Rs1.1 million and a truckload of readymade garments to the nazim on behalf of the Lahore Readymade Garments Dealers Association.

Earlier, at a fund-raising meeting held on Tuesday night, Samanabad Town nazim Mian Javed Ali donated Rs1 million, Ravi Town nazim Yousaf Ahad Malik and Allama Iqbal Town nazim Sardar Kamil Omar Rs500,000 each and Data Ganj Bakhsh Town nazim Tariq Sana Bajwa Rs300,000. Union Council nazim Habibullah Bhatti donated Rs200,000.
