ISLAMABAD, Oct 11: The National Highways and Motorway Police on Tuesday dispatched seven truck-loads of relief goods, which include medicines and three ambulances for victims of earthquake in Azad Kashmir.

The motorway police has also set up several relief camps in different parts of the country.

Besides the relief goods, the motorway police has also donated Rs5.5 million in the President’s Relief Fund.

Ministry of Women Development has sent eight trucks and two pick-ups loaded with relief items to Mansehra.

The consignment, accompanied by the Prime Minister’s advisor on Women Development Nilofar Bakhtiar and other Muslim league women workers, includes blankets, clothes, edibles and medicines.

The ministry has also pledged assistance worth Rs3.5 million for the quake’s victims.

PIA: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is contributing Rs40 million to the President’s relief fund.

Out of the Rs40 million, PIA has given Rs26 million in cash, Rs10 million in relief goods and Rs4 million in flying the affected families to Islamabad.

PTA: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has dispatched second consignment of relief goods to affected areas.

Five truck convoys carrying medicines, blankets, quilts, mats, food items such as biscuits, powdered milk and dates had been sent to Muzaffarabad.

APP: The workers of Associated Press of Pakistan have decided to contribute one-day salary to the earthquake relief fund.

The decision to this effect was taken by all the three CBA Unions of the organization in Islamabad, Punjab and Sindh.

President APPC Employees Union, Islamabad, Zafar Rashid Bhatty informed the Managing Director, APPC, about the decision in a meeting on Tuesday.

AIOU: The employees of Allama Iqbal Open University donated their one day’s salary towards the President’s Relief Fund for earthquake victims.

Prof. Dr. Syed Altaf Hussain, Vice Chancellor of AIOU announced this at a meeting which was also attended by all deans, heads of academic and services departments.

Vice Chancellor, AIOU has also taken measures to set up relief camps in all the regional campuses and study centres.

FIA: All the employees of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have decided to donate one-day salary to the President’s Relief Fund for the victims of the earthquake. The Director General, FIA and the entire staff have offered their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
