PESHAWAR, Oct 11: The immigration cell of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested an Afghan national who was trying to travel on a Pakistani passport and a Pakistani who was attempting to fly on an Afghan passport to Saudi Arabia, a senior official told Dawn on Tuesday.

Farid Khan, son of Mohammad Gul, a resident of Peshawar, was arrested when he tried to clear himself with an Afghan passport at the immigration cell at Peshawar airport while showing himself as Afghan national Gul Mohammad, said assistant director Inamullah Khan Gandapur.

The accused, Farid Khan, had switched the original photograph with his on Afghan passport No KA-633556 issued to Mohammad Gul by the Afghan passport authorities. He was trying to board Pakistan International Airlines flight No PK 753 on Monday.

On the same flight, Afghan national Binyamin was also arrested by the immigration staff when he showed a Pakistani passport to the immigration counter, Mr Gandapur said.

The immigration staff became suspicious and asked Binyamin several questions but he failed to reply satisfactorily to any of them. He showed his national identity card to the officials and it was found to be fake, said the immigration cell in charge at the airport.

Later, Binyamin disclosed that he was an Afghan national living as a refugee in Dera Ismail Khan. He said that one of the travel agents in Dera Ismail Khan made his fake Pakistani identity card in Dara Adamkhel and also prepared his travel documents, said the official.

Both the accused were sent to the FIA passport circle, which registered an FIR and has started investigating.
