PML man vows to contest case against him

By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, Oct 11: Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Science and Technology Makhdoom Ali Hassan Gillani has said he will raise the issue of registration of a criminal case against him in the National Assembly.

The Ahmedpur East city police on Oct 6 registered a case against Mr Gillani and his 60 men on the charges of ransacking the office of tehsil nazim Syed Samiul Hassan Gillani and attempting to kidnap Sami’s supporter Nadeem.

In a telephonic talk from Islamabad on Tuesday, the MNA alleged that he was victimized for his support to the Sadiq Dost group — the rival of the PML-supported Bahawalpur Ittehad — in the local election. Implicated in the case, he said, he would take up the issue to the National Assembly as he was an elected representative.

BVH ARRANGEMENTS: The Bahawal Victoria Hospital is prepared to admit the victims of earthquake, additional medical superintendent Dr Aftab Malik said.

He said various wards having 200 to 300 beds were ready to accommodate the injured.

Meanwhile, several political parties set up relief camps at the busy centre of Farid Gate to collect donations and relief goods from the public. A relief centre has been set up at the DCO office as well.
