KARACHI, Oct 11: Over 100 male and female students of the departments of public administration and pharmacy, University of Karachi on Tuesday volunteered their services for sorting out medicines and other relief activities at the relief camp established at the PAF Museum, Karachi.
These students are in addition to those, who are already working voluntarily at the PAF Museum and many others who went to the quake-hit Azad Kashmir and the NFWP areas for taking part in the relief activities.
KU students would help in sorting out medicines and making packs of relief goods for the quake victims.
It is worth mentioning here that over 250 students of the KU, mainly activists of the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) have left for the quake-hit areas of Kashmir and the NWFP for taking part in relief activities.
Meanwhile, the Karachi University (KU) announced that all of its employees would devote their one-day salary to the Vice-Chancellor’s Earthquake Relief Fund.
This was decided in a meeting presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim, which also urged the employees to come forward and contribute as much as they could besides their salaries.
The vice-chancellor also asked the heads of different faculties to motivate and involve students in this fund-raising campaign.
The Karachi University administration would setup relief camps near stores and parks to collect donations from the general public.
A bank account number, 010-1402-8, United Bank Limited (UBL), University of Karachi branch had been establish to receive cash donations. — PPI
