Afzal, Adnan shine in Twenty20 tournament

KARACHI, Oct 10: A fine half-century by Mirza Afzal Baig and an all-round performance by Adnan Jafri guided AKU Staff ‘A’ to a convincing 68-run victory over Cougars in the AKU Sports and Rehabilitation Centre Twenty20 Ramazan Colour-kit cricket tournament at AKU ground on Sunday.

Afzal struck five fours and three sixes in scoring 55 while Adnan contributed 44, including five boundaries and two sixes, as AKU Staff ‘A’ made 193 for seven in their 20 overs.

Cougars, in reply, mustered 125 in 17.4 overs. Adnan Jafri grabbed two for 21 and Shiraz Ishaq three for 22.

In another match, UBL ran out easy winners by six wickets against International Power. The architects of the win were Raza Qazilbash (55 with seven fours, one six) and M.A. Mannan (40, six fours), who added 76 for the second wicket as UBL reached 134 for four in 18 overs.

SUMMARISED SCORES:

UBL beat International Power by six wickets.

INTERNATIONAL POWER 133-5 in 20 overs (Naveed Sarwar 32 not out, Rehan Ahmed 27, Mohammad Karim 20; Zubair Munshi 2-14, Mohammad Zeeshan 2-25);

UBL 134-4 in 18 overs (Raza Qazilbash 50, M.A. Mannan 40; Shahid Nawaz 3-26).

AKU Staff ‘A’ beat Cougars by 68 runs.

AKU STAFF ‘A’ 193-7 in 20 overs (Mirza Afzal Baig 55, Adnan Jafri 44, Bader 22, Rahim Suleman 21; Aamir Shah 4-21, Atif Malik 2-59);

COUGARS 125 in 17.4 overs (Naeem 25; Shiraz Ishaq 3-22, Adnan Jafri 2-21, Amin Noorani 2-32).
