Rs2million equipment for victims

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 10: Pakistan Sports Board’s (PSB) head Brig Arif Mahmud Siddiqui told Dawn on Monday that equipment worth Rs 2 million to be dispatched to the affected areas by the PST included 300 tents, 1000 blankets, medicine, mineral water and foodstuff.

“Our players were busy all day packing foodstuff like lentils and rice while other stuff was being procured from around town and elsewhere.

“We have been assisting the PST in whatever way we can because we too want to contribute as much as possible,” said Arif who announced that each PSB employee would be donating two days of his salary for the quake-affectees.

The PST staff would also do the same.

PSB chief has also spoken to officials of the national federations urging them to make donations. “We are one family and we have to face this challenge bravely.”

But he said that the PSB wanted to assist those involved in the rescue operations without creating any confusion.

The equipment and foodstuff procured will be delivered to Army authorities shortly for onward dispatch to the affected areas.
