KARACHI: City nazim’s oath-taking delayed

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 10: The City Nazim-elect Syed Mustafa Kamal’s oath-taking ceremony has been delayed for a few days in view of the natural calamity that has devastated the northern areas of the country and the three-day mourning being observing by the nation, informed sources said.

The tentative date for the ceremony of oath-taking by nazims was October 10 but the Election Commission had to reconsider it, the sources pointed out.

They said that now when the mourning was over, the EC might make an announcement in this regard in the next 48 hours.

District Returning Officer Agha Rafique Ahmad, who is the district & sessions judge (south), would administer the oath to the newly-elected City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal in a simple ceremony likely to be held at the City District Council Hall on M. A. Jinnah Road. All 255 newly-elected councillors would also take oath along with the city nazim.
