Indian soldier returned

SRINAGAR, Oct 9: An Indian soldier who had mistakenly crossed into Azad Kashmir after Saturday’s major earthquake was allowed to return on Sunday, a top official said.

“One of our soldiers who had crossed the Line of Control on Saturday was returned by the Pakistanis in Tangdar sector,” Indian Kashmir governor S.K. Sinha told reporters in Srinagar.

He said the soldier had crossed the de facto border in confusion after the major earthquake.

Mr Sinha visited northern Tangdar sector on Sunday to assess the damage.

During his visit, the governor was told that the army had lost a total of 54 soldiers manning forward posts.—AFP
