Adnan, Naeem shine

KARACHI, Oct 9: The opening day of the inaugural AKU Sports and Rehabilitation Centre Ramazan Colour-kit cricket tournament at the AKU ground on Saturday belonged to the hosts’ teams who scored easy victories.

In the first match, AKU Staff ‘A’ Team defeated ABN-Amro Bank by six wickets thanks to a fine all-round performance by Adnan Jaffri who took three wickets before scoring 25.

Naeem Madhani was even more impressive as he contributed 50 and then grabbed four wickets to help AKU Faculty and Staff thrash International Power by nine wickets.

The tournament was officially inaugurated by former Test player Nasimul Ghani, regional development manager of PCB.

Summarised scores:

AKU Staff ‘A’ Team beat ABN-Amro Bank by six wickets.

ABN-AMRO BANK 142-5 in 20 overs (Zulfiqar Lehri 43, Shiraz Ahmed 38, Salman Butt 27; Adnan Jaffri 3-32); AKU STAFF ‘A’ TEAM 146-4 in 19 overs (Shahid Hussain 41, Adnan Jaffri 25, Mir Afzal Baig 22).

AKU Faculty and Staff beat International Power by nine wickets.

INTERNATIONAL POWER 146-6 in 20 overs (Shahid Nawaz 34, Irfan Dhelvi 33, Naveed Sarwar 23; Naeem Madhani 4-28); AKY FACULTY & STAFF 151-1 in 16.2 overs (Mohammad Ali 52 not out, Naeem Madhani 50, Amanullah 33 not out).
