Mission in UK sets up quake helpline

Published October 10, 2005

LONDON, Oct 9: The Pakistan High Commission here has set up an earthquake information centre and a dedicated helpline to provide information to overseas Pakistanis about their relatives back home.

Pakistani expatriates who have their relatives missing back home can contact the High Commission to get relevant information on the telephone numbers: 07946476616, 07765002332 and 020 7664 9200.

Within hours of the natural calamity, the Pakistani mission on Saturday set up temporary visa desks at Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester airports to facilitate Pakistani expatriates who wanted to travel to the country in the wake of the devastating earthquake.

In order to facilitate emergency travel to Pakistan, Britons of Pakistani origin will also be able to get visas on arrival in Pakistan.—APP
