KARACHI: Police to help check prices

KARACHI, Oct 9: Sindh IGP Asad Jehangir has said that police officials besides taking security measures at public places should also extend their full cooperation to the Judicial Magistrates and government officials to control prices of essential commodities during Ramazan.

According to a statement of Sindh Police issued here on Sunday, the instructions have already been issued for beefing up security at mosques, Imambargahs and other places of worship particularly at the time of Taraveeh during Ramazan.

The IGP also directed for setting up of police reporting centres, equipped with wireless and other facilities, at all the main shopping centres and markets of the city for quick redressal of public complaints.

Asad Jehangir has also directed to install secret cameras at shopping centres in different parts of the city with the assistance of businessmen and traders.

He issued directives for ensuring deployment of police personnel at parking lots near mosques and shopping centre with metal and explosive detectors. He advised the people to inform bomb disposal squad in case they spot a suspicious vehicle abandoned at any public place.—APP
