Sohail fastest in trials


KARACHI, Oct 8: Five pacemen registered the speed of 80 mile per hour (MPH) on the second night of PCB Pace Attack Bowling contest 2005 at the National Stadium on Friday.

Sohail Pathan bowled a delivery timed 83.7 MPH to lead the field in the three-day competition.

Saeed Khan and Muhammad Zeeshan an under-19 player were also timed plus 80 mile.

After the second round of competition, 26 top speed bowlers were picked for the final round. Overall nearly 800 aspiring young fast bowlers appeared in the trials.

A speedgun is being used to determine the speed of the bowlers and three bowlers will be picked for the final round for competition to be held at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on Oct 16-17.

Overall 30 fast bowlers will be picked after competition in the various parts of Pakistan to appear in the final round.

Six fastest bowlers will be picked to attend the Pakistan team’s training camp and provide batsmen practice in the nets.

If any of these fast bowlers showed class potential he may be further picked for training with the Pakistan team.

Top fastest bowlers are:

1. Sohail Pathan 83.6 MPH 2. M.Zeeshan 81.0 MPH 3. Saeed Khan 80.7 MPH 4. Osaf Rabbani 80.2 MPH 5. Ovais Anwar 80.2 MPH.—APP
