Probe into incidents of poll violence demanded
HYDERABAD, Oct 8: People’s Party Parliamentarians MNA from Kotri Nawab Ghani Talpur has demanded that a high-level committee comprising PSP officers be appointed to investigate incidents of violence in Thano Bula Khan during the third phase of local body elections held on October 6.
In a statement faxed to Dawn here on Friday, he said a false case of rioting had been registered against ADP nazims and councillors.
He said the opponents of the ADP resorted to violence and firing to harass the voters as they had read the writing on the wall.
He said the polling was suspended and the DPO Jamshoro was not prepared under any circumstances to resume the polling.
The MNA said he had to approach the chief election commission office and only then the polling was resumed.
He said a false case was registered against over 180 ADP nazims and other supporters.
He demanded that a committee comprising PSP officers be appointed to investigate the case.
LLB ADMISSIONS: A high-level meeting of officials of the Sindh University, principals of law colleges affiliated with the university and dean faculty of law held here on Saturday decided that admission to all law colleges for the new session of LLB part-I would start from October 15.
The vice-chancellor of the university, Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, was in the chair.
The meeting observed that as the results of the university had already been announced and marks certificates had been sent to degree colleges affiliated with the university, therefore admissions in the affiliated law colleges should be started without delay.
It unanimously decided that admission to LLB classes for 2004-05 session at all affiliated law colleges would start from October 15 and continue upto December 31, 2005l.
The meeting decided that the date for admission to the second year LLB would be notified after the announcement of the result of LLB part-I and would continue for a period of six weeks.
On the request of the dean faculty of law, it was decided that degrees of candidates of LLB will be sent to the colleges concerned for delivery to the students.
