Sahi terms allegations baseless

By Our Staff Correspondent

FAISALABAD, Oct 8: Punjab Assembly speaker Muhammad Afzal Sahi has termed baseless allegations of misusing official powers during electioneering of his brother, MNA Ghulam Rasool Sahi.

Deputy opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Rana Sanaullah Khan had alleged that the PA speaker was involved in abusing the government machinery.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, the speaker’s spokesman claimed that political career of the Sahi family, spanning 26 years, was enough to proof that it had never indulged in using government machinery.

He said the Sahi family had won previous elections on various seats only on the basis of public support.

Rana Sanaullah Khan, he alleged, was himself involved in underhand dealing of votes which had become a talk of the town, and a number of proofs could be presented on all forums.

The stark violation of election rules, regulations and code of ethics by opposition leaders and candidates had created a new record in the election history.

The spokesman said that, being the PA speaker, he had the privilege to use government facilities but he had always stayed in his native house instead of the local Circuit House during the electioneering.
