BAHAWALPUR, Oct 8: District nazim-elect Tariq Cheema has vowed to divert his full attention towards the solution of civic problems in all the tehsil headquarters. Talking to reporters here on Friday night, Tariq Cheema said he would come up to the expectations of his electorates and would leave no stone unturned in redressing their genuine grievances of provision of potable water, sanitation, health and education.

The district nazim admitted that there were some lapses during his first tenure which, he said, would not be repeated.

He said that funds for various uplift projects in the city had been received from the chief minister.

Presently lying with the district government, he said these funds would be utilized judiciously. His priority would be to make arrangements for the provision of potable water and improvement in drainage, sewerage and sanitation systems.

In addition, he said that mega projects would be initiated in Bahawalpur. He said that fair distribution of funds would be made among all union councils in the district.

Bahawalpur Ittehad president Syed Tasneem Nawaz Gardezi and PML central media coordinator Syed Tabish Alwari also expressed their views in the press conference.

They said that election results had belied all claims of opponents and the people had reposed complete confidence in the leadership of the Bahawalpur Ittehad.
