GUJRANWALA, Oct 8: A case has been registered against the newly-elected town nazim of Qila Didar Singh and two others for their alleged involvement in preparation of a fake BA certificate for disqualified MPA of ruling party.

The former MPA, Mian Mazhar Javed, who is a brother of the town nazim-elect, Mian Tariq Javed, is also nominated in the case registered by civil lines police.

Reports said the former MPA was disqualified by the Lahore High Court for having a fake degree on a writ petition filed by his political rival Chaudhry Nasir Cheema about two months ago.

Nasir Cheema later got registered an FIR against the former MPA and his town nazim brother, along with two other persons.

However, the police could not arrest any of the accused so far. It is stated that the accused got an interim bail from a court till Oct 11.

The petitioner, Nasir Cheema, is now said to be a ruling PML-backed aspirant for the Punjab Assembly seat (PP-97) vacated by Mian Mazhar.

Meanwhile, the ARD has fielded Chaudhry Fazel Abas Cheema for the seat, for which by-election will be held on Oct 22.
