BCCI official fails to attend ACC meeting
LAHORE, Oct 7: Pakistan’s suggestion to appoint neutral umpires for the home series against India next year could not be discussed at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting because no BCCI official attended the meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) director cricket operations, Saleem Altaf, who attended the meeting told reporters on Friday.
India are scheduled to visit Pakistan in February and both countries were to finalize the itinerary during the Kuala Lumpur meeting, besides discussing the options of neutral umpires.
Saleem explained that now he would talk to BCCI officials over telephone on Pakistan’s decision of appointing neutral umpire to seek their consent.
Pakistan has already made England agree on appointing neutral umpires in the home series starting from Oct 26.
He said that some changes were being made in the Asia Cup to be held in Pakistan in February next.
On the request of Sri Lanka, the date of their match against Bangladesh has been changed from Feb 14 to 17.
The full itinerary, he said would be finalized soon.
He added that the ACC would request ICC to adjust the matches of the Asian Test championship in its future tour programme.
