Pakistan in 3rd place

ISLAMABAD, Oct 7: Pakistan finished third with 13 medals in the six- nation 2nd Central-Western Asian Canoeing Championship held at Tehran from Oct 3 to 5, according to reports available on Friday.

Besides Pakistan and hosts Iran, the other countries which participated in the championship were Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon.

Pakistan competed in the flatwater events of Kl, K2, K4, Cl, C2 and C4 in 200M, 500M and 1000M.

This was the first time that Pakistan canoeing team has registered an international win..

Pakistan team comprised Cl Nasir lqbal.C2 Abdul Rauf.C4 Abdul Rauf Mushtaq Ahmed, Sadaqat Hussain, Nasir Iqbal.K2 Shahjahan Khan, Sadaqat Hussain. K4 Shahjahan Khan, Haji Ejaz Ahmed, Tahir S Akbar, Sadaqat Hussain.—APP
