By Our Sports Reporter
ISLAMABAD, Oct 7: The Pakistan Sports Trust (PST) on Friday gave away equipment to the provincial associations as part of its commitment to promotion of sports. Lt. Gen Syed Arif Hasan, the chairman of the Trust told a news conference that the equipment was being provided with the hope that it will utilised fully and that positive results would be achieved.
There will be accountability and monitoring of the national federations because without these elements no system can work, said the general who also heads the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA).
He said that the PST had set priorities and would support any individual or federation which it thought was capable of earning laurels for the country.
Arif refuted reports that he would head a proposed television sports channel. I have no such plans, although I have had discussions with Shaharyar M. Khan (chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board) for setting up of this channel.
The equipment donated: Boxing ring complete (international standard, one each) Balochistan, NWFP, Punjab, Sindh and Pakistan Boxing Federation.
