500 pacers appear in trials


KARACHI, Oct 7: Over 500 aspiring young pacers appeared in the PCB Pace Attack Bowling contest 2005 at National Stadium Thursday night. Several of them showed a lot of promise, talent and 52 boys crossed the speed limit of more than 75 mile per hour.

Four former Test pacemen led by Ehteshamuddin with Jalaluddin, Rashid Khan and Anwar Khan supervised the competition which went beyond 1.00 past midnight.

On the final day, these pace bowlers will be short listed to 30 and three bowlers with fastest speed limit will be picked for the final phase of competition to be held in at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore from Oct 16-17 .

During the final day boys will be allowed one over each. After finals in Lahore, six best bowlers with top speed will be picked to feature in Pakistan team’s training camp and provide practice to the team for the series against England.
