FAISALABAD, Oct 7: Deputy opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Rana Sanaullah Khan has said the speaker should be disqualified as he used the state machinery, buildings and resources for the election campaign of his brother MNA Ghulam Rasool Sahi.

He told reporters here on Friday that the speaker campaigned for the ruling party nominee for the district nazim and exerted his pressure not on the voters but also on the civil and police administration.

Rana Sana said the Circuit House, Mayor House and other government buildings and offices had been converted into camp offices of Ghulam Rasool Sahi and the government officials were forced to harass the voters to muster their support for the PML candidate.

He claimed that the local courts had issued orders for the immediate vacation of the Circuit House and other government buildings, official vehicles and restrained the police and administration from taking part in the electioneering of the ruling party candidate. But the court orders were violated with impunity by the speaker and his associates.

He pointed out that due to highly objectionable attitude of the speaker in the local elections, Afzal Sahi who was custodian of the house had lost his credibility in the eyes of the legislators and the general public.

Rana Sana asked him to resign from the prestigious post as there had been proof against him for misuse of the government machinery for the campaign of the ruling party candidate.
