Aziz fixes 1pc quota for journalists in all sectors
ISLAMABAD, Oct 7: One per cent quota has been fixed for working journalists of Rawalpindi and Islamabad in all new residential sectors of the federal capital.
This was stated by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz while talking to a delegation of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ), Apnec and PFUJ at the Prime Minister’s House.
Mr Aziz said quotas of all other professions had been abolished. But journalists deserve shelter as prices of property has skyrocketed, he added.
The prime minister said journalists’ problems would be resolved in accordance with provision of the law of the land. He told journalists that PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain had met newspaper owners twice. He would also meet journalists’ representatives to resolve wage board award issue, he added.
Mr Aziz said a judge would be appointed in the implementation tribunal on the basis of merit.
Regarding complaint of non-payment of salaries in different newspapers, the prime minister directed Information Secretary Shahid Rafi Khan to help journalists in resolution of their problems.
Journalists also apprised the prime minister about allotment of plots to 17 TV journalists in G-14 sector.—PPI
