OECD sees moderate growth ahead

PARIS, Oct 7: The OECD said on Friday its composite leading indicator (CLI) rose to 104.0 in August from 103.9 in July, pointing to moderate growth in world’s most advanced economies in the period ahead.

The CLI summarises information from a number of key short-term economic performance indicators and provides early signals of turning points between expansions and slowdowns in activity.

Such turning points are highlighted by the six-month rate of change in the CLI, which compares the current month’s CLI figure with the average of the previous 12 months.

The six-month rate of change showed an annualised increase of 1.1 per cent in August, unchanged from July, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development said.

For the United States, the CLI fell to 102.9 from 103.1, while the CLI for the eurozone rose to 106.0 from 105.5.

Japan’s CLI rose to 99.5 from 99.1 and Britain’s CLI increased to 100.3 from 100.0.—AFP
