Musharraf calls meeting on water issues

ISLAMABAD, Oct 6: President General Pervez Musharraf has convened a meeting of all stakeholders on Oct 8 to discuss water sector issues in the country. Informed sources said the meeting would be attended by the minister for water and power, deputy chairman Planning Commission, officials of relevant ministries, Wapda, Nespak, General Headquarters, federal flood commission and Indus River System Authority (Irsa).

These sources said the invitees had not been informed about any specific agenda of the meeting. But they said that the president wanted to have a marathon brainstorming session with all the stakeholders on all water sector issues, including the findings of ANG Abbasi’s report.
