KPP-Mahar group wins in Sukkur

SUKKUR, Oct 6: Syed Nasir Hussain Shah of the Khushhal Pakistan Panel-Mahar group has become district nazim after defeating Syed Awais Shah of the Awam Dost Panel.

Naeem Siddiqui of the MQM-backed Haq Parast Group has bagged the seat of taluka nazim of Sukkur by defeating Nauman Shaikh of the Awam Dost Panel.

Abdul Haq Chohan of the Awam Dost Panel has been elected nazim of the New Sukkur taluka after defeating Abdul Ghani Khoso of the Khushhal Pakistan Panel-Mahar group.

Aslam Shaikh of the Khushhal Pakistan Panel-Mahar group has been elected taluka nazim Rohri while defeating Ajmal Shah of the Awam Dost Panel.

In Pano Akil, Shah Nawaz Mahar of the KPP-Mahar group has been elected taluka nazim. Mr Mahar defeated his close rival Shabbir Shaikh of the Awam Dost Panel.

According to the results announced on Thursday by returning officers in their respective polling stations before candidates and their agents, Nasir Shah captured 299 while his close rival Awais Shah of the Awam Dost Panel got 278 votes.

For the Sukkur taluka nazim, Naeem Siddiqui of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement defeated Awam Dost Panel’s Nauman Shaikh by nine votes.

Naeem Siddiqui captured 74 votes while Nauman Shaikh obtained 65 votes.

In the New Sukkur taluka, Abdul Haq Chohan of the Awam Dost Panel elected nazim by obtaining 59 votes while his close rival Abdul Ghani Khoso of the Khushhal Pakistan Panel got 42 votes.

Aslam Shaikh of the KPP-Mahar group elected nazim of the Rohri taluka by obtaining 73 votes while ADP candidate Ajmal Shah received 65 votes.

KPP-Mahar group’s candidate Shah Nawaz Mahar elected the taluka nazim of Pano Akil after capturing 94 votes while Awam Dost Panel’s Shabbir Shaikh got 55 votes.

Elections were held in peaceful manner at all polling stations and not a single untoward incident was reported in the district.

Tight security arrangements were taken and Rangers personnel were deployed to maintain law and order.
