KARACHI, Oct 5: A four-member Pakistan Optimist sailing team will fly to Bangkok on Oct 27 to compete in the International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) Asian sailing championship being held at South Pattaya from Oct 29.

According to Pakistan Sailing Federation (PSAF), the sailors who have been picked to represent the country include reigning national Optimist champion, Waleed Tobeh, Hussain Patel, Sabahatullah Babur and Adil Zuberi.

Cdr Javed Rasool will accompany the team as manager.

Meanwhile, secretary PSAF, Capt (retd) S. V. Hasan, has called upon the sailors to continue their practice and the victory was possible through ‘will to win’.

He was speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the 15th National Optimist Sailing Championship at the National Sailing Centre (NSC).

The competition was held under the aegis of Pakistan Youth Sailing Association at the Korangi Creek last week.
