HYDERABAD, Oct 5: Former deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly and the Jamshoro Ittehad candidate for the district nazim of Jamshoro, Jalal Mehmood Shah, has accused his opponents Sardar Malik Asad Sikandar and MNA Abdul Ghani Talpur of kidnapping two councillors, Sher Ali and Jehangir.
He was speaking at a news conference at the local press club on Wednesday. The candidate for the Kotri taluka nazim, Baqar Mohammad Shah, and a large number of supporters were also present on the occasion.
He alleged that a polling station had been changed at the behest of PPP MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur and termed it direct interference in the election process.
He called upon the administration to ensure sanctity of ballot and provide maximum protection to the voters.
Mr Shah said that Jamshoro Ittehad wanted to save people from feudalism and said that his party would try to improve working of the government departments, eliminate corruption, accelerate the pace of development schemes, improve the educational and health systems and the municipal facilities.
Replying to a question about the Kalabagh dam, the former deputy speaker said that the dam was not in the interest of Sindh.
Hesco: The deputy director safety of Hesco, Chaudhry Mohammad Riaz, has said that a person could lose his life if he does not take proper safety measures against electricity.
He was speaking at a safety day, organised by the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union at the labour hall on Tuesday.
He stressed upon the Hesco employees to wear rubber gloves and helmet while working on the power lines.
Speaking on the occasion, the provincial secretary of the union, Mohammad Iqbal Qaimkhani, protested that the sons of late Shamsuddin and Mohammad Bachal, who had died during the performance of their duties last month, were not appointed in the organization.
Others who also spoke on the occasion were the deputy chairman of the union, Mir Khan Baloch, Vice Chairman Malik Sultan Ali and Joint Secretary Azam Khan.
LUMHS: Professor Rafique Ahmed Soomro and Professor Abdul Sattar Memon have been elected as members of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences syndicate. The elections had been held on Tuesday.
