KARACHI: Shahrah-i-Altaf project launched


KARACHI, Oct 5: Sindh Planning and Development Minister Shoaib Bukhari on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of a 4.5km-long road named as Shahrah-i-Altaf Hussain from Murtaza Chowk through Malir River to Landhi/Shah Faisal towns.

It will be a dual carriageway road with each track being 36ft-wide to Malir embankment whereafter it will become a single track of 24 feet width. It will be completed in nine months at a cost of Rs42 million.

Addressing the foundation laying ceremony, Shoaib Bukhari said construction of this road would benefit the residents of Landhi and Korangi as well as workers and industrialists of Korangi Induustrial Area.

After its completion, he said, it was expected that area residents would take only 12 minutes to reach airport.

Addressing the district officers, the minister said that funds for construction of this road would be provided by Sindh government.

However, if any problem came in the way of its construction, the same should be brought to his notice.

He said that special care must be taken to ensure quality of work so that this road, which had been named after the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, could provide facility to people for a long time.

MPA Mohammed Moeen Aamir Pirzada also spoke on the occasion. —APP
