LAHORE, Oct 4: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will not be able to install floodlights at Multan and Iqbal stadiums, Faisalabad, before the start from Oct 26 of home series against England.
“The installation is expected to be completed in four months. Efforts will, however, be made to have the lights installed before the commencement of Indian tour to Pakistan (Feb, 2006),” said a PCB press release issued on Tuesday.
It said the PCB had signed an agreement on installing lights in both the stadiums. Nespak are the consultants for this Rs146 million project while Phillips will install lights.
The PCB was willing to install lights in the two stadiums but not before getting complete control over them from the Punjab government.
Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi had announced he would hand over the stadiums to PCB after meeting board chairman Shaharyar M Khan but later the then Punjab sports minister Naeemullah Khan Shahani raised reservations about it causing delay to the installation of lights for England’s series starting from Oct 26.
