HYDERABAD, Oct 4: People’s Party Parliamentarians MNA from Kotri Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur has appealed to the president and the chief election commissioner to deploy army in Jamshoro district during the third phase of local body elections.

He was speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Tuesday.

Mr Talpur claimed the ADP candidate for the district nazim slot, Malik Asad Sikandar, enjoyed unflinching support of 225 councillors, of a total number of 364 voters.

He said the Sindh government and police had unleashed terror in the Jamshoro district to ensure the victory of government candidate.

The MNA said that two councillors, Alam Shoro and Lal Chand, had already been picked up by police who were stanch supporters of Malik Asad Sikandar.

He said the police mobiles were chasing supporters of Malik Asad Sikandar because the Sindh government was fully aware of the fact that no one could defeat him in the district.

He said the Arbab government was supporting a candidate for the district nazim slot who himself and his forefathers had always opposed Pakistan and were openly talking about breaking it.

Without naming Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, the grand son of late G.M.Syed, who is contesting against Malik Asad Sikandar, the PPP leader said these people had always opposed valiant armed forces of Pakistan.

He said it appeared that Gen Musharraf had not been briefed about background of the family.

Nawab Ghani Talpur said the Manjhand taluka polling station had been shifted to the village of contesting candidate in flagrant violation of election rules.

He said according to election rules, taluka polling station has to be established at the taluka headquarter and no where else.

He said the army deployment on October 6, in the Jamshoro district was a necessary must not only to ensure free, fair and transparent elections but also to avoid bloodshed.

Answering a question, the MNA said he had already informed the election commission about shifting of polling station from Manjhand to Sann.
