Women products’ fair in Dhaka

ISLAMABAD, Oct 3: The second South Asian Women Entrepreneurs exhibition will be held next week in Dhaka to promote products prepared by the womenfolk of the region.

The exhibition is organized by the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) in collaboration with the Pakistan High Commission scheduled for October 10-15, 2005.

An official announcement by the commerce ministry issued here on Monday said the Pakistan High Commission was also organizing a Pakistan food festival during the show, where Bundu Khan, a leading name in Pakistan, had been invited to serve Iftari to visitors. This festival will create a special awareness and a never ending taste to the palate of Bangladesh for Pakistan culinary delights.

The exhibition aims at displaying products prepared by the Asian women entrepreneurs. There will be around 45-50 stalls, out of which nearly 50 per cent will be from Pakistan and the rest from Bangladesh and other Asian countries.

The exhibitors will be displaying items like fabrics embroidered ladies, gents and children’s clothes, shoes; chapels, khusas, bangles, mehandi, bags, runners, scarves, cushions, herbal cosmetics, home décor, bedlinen products, etc.

The festival will again be a colourful display and sale of products produced by women Entrepreneurs from different countries like silk sarees, lehngas, shalwar suits, kaftans, kurtis, Punjabi suits, bridal wear and many more ethnic and fusion dresses made of handloom, crepe silk, georgettes, embroidered and of handwork embellished with kundan work, light sequin work, heavy zardosi and intricate resham work.

Around 25 well-known Pakistani women entrepreneurs will be leaving for Dhaka next week to participate in the festival, with exclusive boutique products.
