Ministry denies report

ISLAMABAD, Oct 2: A spokesman for the interior ministry has denied a report appearing in a section of the press on Oct 1 that 11 soldiers were killed in two days of fighting in North Waziristan.

A press release said the report quoted Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao as having confirmed the number of casualties in an interview with journalists.

“That information is wrong,” the spokesman added.

He said the minister had clarified his statement by saying he had mentioned the total number of those dead as 11, four of them soldiers and one Kasadar.— Reporter
