Former AJK chief justice refused Indian visa
LAHORE, Oct 2: Three leaders from Pakistan, invited to attend a round table conference on Kashmir in New Delhi, could not attend the moot because India refused a visa to one of them, prompting the other to cancel his visit in protest, and the third could not leave the city for family reasons.
The conference started on Sept 29 and concluded on Sunday (Oct 2).
It is said that former AJK chief justice Abdul Majeed Malik was refused an Indian visa on the ground that he was native of Jammu and Kashmir.
Interestingly, the point was not raised when he was issued a visa for a visit to India only a couple of months ago.
Kashmir Action Chairman Justice Sharif Husain Bukhari cancelled his visit when his colleague was refused a visa.
Dr Mubashir Hasan could not go to India because of the Chehlum of his sister.
The RTC had been organized by the Centre for Dialogue and Reconstruction. The participants were to discuss various solutions to the Kashmir dispute.
