38 ruling party councillors join PPP

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Oct 2: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) leader Atif Kiani on Sunday joined Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) along with 38 councillors.

He announced this decision at a press conference here. Naheed Khan, the PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto’s political secretary, was present on this occasion.

Though Mr Kiani refused to divulge the names of the 38 councillors in view of, what he called, the government pressure, he spoke about their previous party affiliations and said that 24 were from PML, two from MMA and 12 from PML (N).

Mumtaz Kiani, Haq Nawaz Kiani, Aftab Qureshi, Wazir Sultan, Raja Alam Abbasi and Ch Sajid were some of the prominent councillors present on the occasion.
