KARACHI, Oct 2: Sindh police have finalized a comprehensive security plan to ensure peaceful holding of the third phase of local body election being held on October 6.
A police spokesman said on Sunday that the plan had been submitted to IGP Asad Jehangir Khan for approval.
During polling hours, police would remain present at their respective police stations. The officers and low-ranking personnel have been briefed properly about their assignments and duties.
Comprehensive measures to ensure safety and security of people’s life and property have been listed in the security plan. The measures included increased patrolling, enhanced snap-checking and setting up of pickets on specified spots.
The IGP has also issued directives to regional police officers of Sukkur and Hyderabad to ensure implementation of the ban on display and carrying of arms, especially on the polling day.
Stressing maintenance of complete peace in the province, he said not only deployment of personnel was required, but fool-proof security arrangements were also needed to be made for voters and election staff.
He called for an uninterrupted contact between the Central Control Room and those established at district and town levels.—APP
