Syed Ali dies

KARACHI, Sept 30: Former Pakistan international hockey player, Syed Ali Siddiqui, died here on Friday and was laid to rest at Sakhi Hasan Graveyard.

He was 66 and leaves behind four sons, a daughter and a wife to mourn his death.

Syed Ali migrated to Pakistan in late 50s and was employed by Pakistan Customs till his retirement.

He captained United Provinces (UP) and Aligarh University hockey teams in India.

His funeral was attended by sports personalities including hockey Olympians.

Former Pakistan hockey captain Islahuddin and ex-chief cricket selector Salahuddin condoled the death of Syed Ali who was their collegue.

Syed Ali’s soyem will be held on Sunday at Baitul Mukarram Mosque, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, after Zuhar prayers.
