18 disciplines in Punjab Games

LAHORE, Sept 30: Eighteen disciplines will be contested in the second India-Pakistan Punjab Games being held in four cities from Dec 21 to 27.

It was decided during a meeting of the two countries’ officials held on Friday.

The three-member Indian Punjab delegation comprising Indian Punjab sports minister, R.B.S Pitwar, parliamentary secretary, Rana Gul Mirsingh, and general secretary Indian Punjab Olympic Association, K.S Sidhu attended the meeting.

From Pakistan the Punjab Olympic Association secretary Khawaja Idris, and the secretaries of 18 provincial sports associations competing in the games attended the meeting. It was decided to hold the event in four cities namely Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujrat and Multan.

Faisalabad will organize the handball competition while Gujrat will hold kabaddi.

Football will be held in Multan. All the remaining events will be held in Lahore.

It was also decided that the team events would be played on best of three basis while only one competition will be held in individual category.

The Games feature athletics, badminton, basketball, table tennis, boxing, cycling, football, gymnastic, handball, hockey, kabaddi, shooting, weightlifting, wrestling, judo, tennis, volleyball, polo.
