FOOTBALLS: Production of machine-made footballs has started following implementation of the WTO’s international quality standards.
This was stated by outgoing chairman of Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association Yunas Ratra at the annual general meeting of the PSGMEA here on Friday.
He said the step had been taken to avoid further crises as the industry had survived a poisonous propaganda of child labour during the production of the hand stitched footballs.
He said the time has come to introduce new technologies to compete in the global market. “For this purpose, Rs150 million are direly required.”
He said a ‘Pakistan Sports Industry Development Trust’ has been established for introducing the machine-made balls instead of the traditional hand-stitched balls in the world markets.
