42 killed in Kashmir accident

JAMMU, Sept 29: At least 42 passengers were killed and 44 injured when an overcrowded bus skidded off a mountain road and plunged into a gorge in held Kashmir on Thursday, police said.

The accident occurred in Doda district, 165km from here, police officer Ahmed Parvez Mirza said, amending the earlier toll of 22 killed and 27 injured.

Witnesses told police that the bus was overcrowded with pilgrims going to a holy site visited by people suffering from skin ailments.—-AFP
