KARACHI, Sept 29: Hina Kanwal of Lahore Colours became the first casualty of the ongoing 21st National women’s hockey championship when she was rushed to the nearby Jinnah hospital for breathing problems soon after her team lost to Wapda in semifinal on Thursday.
‘Doctors had conducted x-ray, ultra sound besides injecting a drip after admitting her to ascertain the cause,’ Ms. Zaib-un-Nisa, manager of the Lahore Colours, told Dawn at the HCP Stadium.
Hina was taken to hospital after she complained of severe pain in abdomen. ‘Doctor refused to let her go back until the cause was determined, ‘said the manager.
The manager was critical on the non-availability of stretcher at the HCP Stadium as her two players Sumaira and Razia Malik had earlier sustained cramps and were taken out of the field with the support of other players.
She further pointed out that Lahore Whites goalkeeper Sehr who received injury in her finger the other day was taken to hospital on foot as no ambulance was available.
