QUETTA, Sept 29: A division bench of Balochistan High Court on Thursday granted petitions of two candidates against rejection of their nomination papers and allowed them to contest for the post of district nazim Kech.
The papers of petitioners Maula Barkat and Fida Muhammad were rejected by the district returning officer on the grounds that Maula Barkat was under 21 at that time while the name of petitioner Fida Muhammad appeared at two different places in the electoral list.
EXHIBITION: A three-day science exhibition began on Thursday at the Government Girls College, Quetta Cantonment, under the auspices of the Pakistan Education Foundation.
Member of Balochistan Assembly Rahila Durrani inaugurated the exhibition.
Students – both girls and boys — of some 22 colleges and institutes of the city have set up stalls at the show.
The students have put on display a large number of their science projects.
The aim of the exposition is to promote students’ creative works.
Ms Durrani praised the creative output of students and said such exhibitions should also be arranged in other cities of the province.
She said the models of scientific innovation showed the keen interest of students in the subject.
She urged upon students to benefit from the educational facilities being provided by the Balochistan government.
President of Pakistan Education Foundation, Balochistan chapter, Asif Akhtar, vice-president Rubab Hameed Khan Durrani, founder of the PEF Professor S. Wasee Akhtar and other officials attended the event.
The exhibition was later opened for public.
JAIL HOSPITAL: Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Amanullah Yasinzai on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to investigate substandard construction of the hospital building in the Quetta district jail.
During a visit to the district jail, the chief justice expressed dissatisfaction over the construction work of the building.
He said all the available resources should be utilized to complete the construction as soon as possible.
He also met prisoners, inquired from them about their cases and gave some directives to judges accompanying him.
