KARACHI, Sept 29: The process for admissions to various programmes at the University of Karachi for 2006 will begin, with sale of forms and prospectus through designated bank branches on Oct 17.
The director of the KU admission committee, Dr Shakeel Ahmed Khan, said on Thursday that the admission process would be carried out in two phases, first for the masters’ programme while the second phase for the honours programme.
The sale and collection of forms for masters’ programme will be carried out from Oct 17 to Oct 26, while the list of candidates provisionally selected for admissions would be released on Nov 19 and the applicants concerned would be required to finalize their admissions by depositing fees from Nov 21 to 24.
In the case of honours classes, forms will be sold and collected by banks from Nov 10 to 19, while the merit list of candidates would be issued on Dec 10. Selected students will be required to furnish the documents and deposit the fees from Dec 12 to 16.
To a question Dr Shakeel said that the varsity had decided to increase the existing fees by 10 per cent for the ensuing academic session. The departments which offered admissions to applicants after conducting entry tests would be issued separately, he added.
