SEOUL, Sept 28: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz arrived here on a three-day visit that would focus on boosting economic, trade and investment cooperation with the Pacific rim country .

On arrival, the prime minister and his entourage were greeted by South Korean vice-foreign minister.

Mr Aziz who is accompanied by the former prime minister and PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, a number of ministers and top businessmen, would advocate a case of investment in textile, telecommunication and energy sector.

Prime minister’s visit was in the realm of Vision East Asia policy which has helped Islamabad to muster support for dialogue partnership with Asean.

Mr Aziz would emphasize cooperation under Economic Development Cooperation Fund for human resource development, capacity building and education the extension of EDCF loan to Pakistan at 2.5 per cent interest rate per annum for 20-30 years maturity with 5 to 10 years grace period.

Prime Minister Aziz would brief the South Korean leaders on the on-going dialogue with India, the situation in Afghanistan and the evolving global and regional security environment. Pakistan also fully supports the six-nation nuclear talks, which seek nuclear free Korean peninsula .

On Thursday, Mr Aziz would meet leading South Korean investors and industrialists besides meeting president and prime minister of South Korea.

SHUJAAT: PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussein on Wednesday dispelled an impression that a move was under way to bring about presidential form of government in the country.

He reiterated that the next general elections would be held in 2007 as per schedule, and that there was no possibility of early elections as claimed or demanded by the opposition parties.
