Erum’s goal earns Sindh third place

ISLAMABAD, Sept 28: Sindh edged out Balochistan 1-0 in the play-off match to finish third in the first-ever women’s national football championship at Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex, on Wednesday.

Erum Kazmi gave Sindh lead off a penalty kick in the third minute to the start and their defenders were able to thwart Balochistan attacks in the remaining 57 minutes to emerge victors.

The final of the tournament between Wapda and Punjab will kick off under floodlights at 5.30p.m. on Thursday.

The final, as were the semifinals, will be of 60-minute duration unlike preliminary round games which were of 50-minute duration.—APP
