KARACHI: Three more qualify for Spelling Bee finals

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 28: Three more students from different schools in Karachi on Wednesday qualified for the national finals of the second “Dawn in Education National Spelling Bee” championship being held at the Bahria Auditorium.

About 225 students categorized in three age groups took part in the Karachi city competition in the qualifying round held on Wednesday, the second day of the contest.

It was a tough competition as each of the ‘sudden death’ rounds continued for over 90 minutes. The judges and pronouncers of the spelling contests came from the British Council, said a coordinator of the competition.

Winners of Wednesday round are:: Wasay Ali Khan of BVS Parsi High School (Age group 9-11), Hula Fatima of Mama Parsi Girls Secondary School (Age group 12-14) and Momina Waqar of Bahria College, NORE-1 (Age group 15-17).
